Hello there!
I’m Amanda, and if you told me years ago I'd be a designer, I probably would've chuckled. But here I am, and it feels like I've found my groove in the most unexpected places.
Back in elementary school, I was that kid who won the "Invention Convention" with a purse that had a built-in light. Who knew that quirky creation would set the stage for a journey into design? After high school, I dove into business studies, thinking I'd become the next big entrepreneur. Little did I know, those lessons in business would lead me to appreciate the power of design in a whole new light.
Fast forward a bit, and there I was, grinding away at a print company job that I thought would be temporary. Funny how life works out, right? Over time, I climbed the ranks to become a graphic designer, spending over 7 years refining my craft. But even with the success, there was a nagging feeling that something was missing.
Then came UX Design, and it felt like finding the missing puzzle piece. I did some DIY learning before taking the plunge into Wichita State's “Masters in Innovative Design” program. It's been a wild ride, filled with late-night brainstorming sessions and more "aha" moments than I can count.
One project that still gives me that proud smile is my work with Clinic in a Can. Tasked with developing a water system resilient to freezing temperatures for their medical offices housed in shipping containers, I led the charge in crafting a solution. My creation, "H2Go-Go," is a testament to the power of collaboration and creativity. It's moments like these that fuel my passion for design and reaffirm my belief in its potential.
Outside of design, you'll find me keeping it real with my love for trying new foods, exploring new places (especially if they're far-flung), and getting lost in the beat at live music gigs. And let's not forget about my little squad at home—that spirited and amazing little boy of mine, a rescue pup, and a couple of cuddly cats who keep life interesting.
So here's to rolling with the punches, finding joy in the unexpected, and always staying curious. Come join me on this wild ride—where every challenge is an opportunity, and every design is a story waiting to be told.
